How is this block print cotton fabric sold and how do I order the right amount?

The fabric is sold by the yard in continuous lengths, so you can order the yardage you need for your project. As a rough guide, a simple summer dress usually takes 3 to 4 yards, a kurta around 2.5 yards, and a cushion cover under a yard, though you should always check your own pattern. If you need a continuous, uncut length, mention it in your order notes.

What is the fabric made of and how should I care for it?

Every fabric in this category is 100% cotton, printed by hand in Jaipur, India using carved wooden blocks. We recommend a gentle cold wash separately for the first two or three washes, drying in shade, and ironing on the reverse to keep the print crisp. As with most hand-printed cottons, some initial colour softening can occur, which is normal for the craft.

Will the print and colour look exactly the same across every yard I order?

Because each yard is stamped by hand with wooden blocks, you'll see small, natural variations in motif placement, ink saturation and colour tone between pieces and even along a single length. Screens can also shift colour slightly, so shades like indigo blue, red violet or turquoise may read a little differently in person. This variation is part of the character of hand block printing, not a defect.
