What fabric are Shivalaya Jaipur's skirts made from?

Our skirts are made from 100% cotton, hand block printed in Jaipur, India. Cotton breathes well in warm weather, which is why it's the base for our entire skirt edit — from indigo florals to the cornflower blue paisley with a chevron border.

How should I care for a hand block printed cotton skirt?

We recommend a gentle cold hand-wash separately for the first few washes, as hand block printed cotton can release excess colour initially. Dry in shade to help retain print clarity, and iron on the reverse if needed. Avoid harsh detergents and bleach.

Will the print look exactly like the photo?

Each skirt is printed by hand using carved wooden blocks, so small differences in alignment, print density or colour depth are expected between pieces. These variations are part of the craft, not defects — no two skirts are identical.

What styles and occasions do these skirts suit?

The edit includes tiered maxis, midis and A-line shapes, with elasticated or drawstring waists that adapt to different sizes. They work well for holidays, garden gatherings, festivals and layered everyday outfits, and pair naturally with cottagecore and boho wardrobes.
